IDÉE'S PIXID IMAGE MONITORING SERVICE ADOPTED BY WORLD'S LEADING EDITORIAL PHOTO AGENCIES
Idée's PixID service monitors over 25 million client editorial images.
TORONTO, July 23, 2008 Idée Inc. today announced that The European Pressphoto Agency (EPA), Matrix Photos, Capital Pictures and Feature Flash have selected PixID to track their photographs in print publications worldwide. Since its launch in 2007, Idée's PixID image monitoring service has been adopted by the world's leading news, celebrity and entertainment photo agencies. Idée monitors thousands of publications for over 25 million client editorial images and performs up to 55 trillion image comparisons each month.
PixID is the world’s only automated image tracking service that can accurately identify where every editorial client image appears in newspapers and magazines. Editorial photo agencies supply Idée with a copy of their entire image archive and PixID compares the collections to scanned or digital copies of publications to identify where the client's images appear. Idée's digital fingerprinting process can identify images despite alterations including radical crops, rotations, colour changes or flips. The PixID reports detail precisely how a client image appears on a page.
“We are excited to be working with Idée and using PixID, their image tracking service. PixID’s image identification technology is truly incredible. We provide a list of publications and editorial websites to track and PixID shows us daily where our EPA images have appeared. The image matching accuracy of PixID is astounding - you have to see the reports to believe them! This will streamline our operational billing and increase revenues, as we can now account for all our licensed image usage.” -- Rick Wysocki, Director, NA Sales & Marketing, European Pressphoto Agency
PixID replaces clients existing in-house manual processes for billing publishers. The process involved looking at each page of a publication for editorial photo credits. Manual approaches are error prone and PixID identifies up to 15% more image uses in print publications. In addition to the increased revenue, PixID reduces overall operational costs of manually tracking images.
“To be competitive in the demanding celebrity photo space, content providers require accurate information on how and where their images are being used,” said Leila Boujnane Chief Executive Officer of Idée Inc. “PixID’s ability to fingerprint and continuously monitor our clients’ images enables them to maximize the value of their digital assets.”
